The full story
Pista Badaam — unwrapped.
Every shahi dessert of the subcontinent ends the same way — with pista and badam. Pista Badaam Talbeena brings the royal pair to the Sunnah bowl: an extra 50 grams each of pistachio and almond per kilo, folded with 100 grams of whole-milk powder — real milk, dried — the creamiest of our 31 whole-food ingredients, naturally sweetened with dates, figs, raisins, a touch of raw honey and a little gur. No refined white sugar.
Talbeena’s story begins in the hadith: in a narration of Aisha (RA), the Prophet ﷺ described it as a dish that soothes the heart and eases some of its sorrow (Sahih al-Bukhari 5417 · Sahih Muslim 2216). For fourteen centuries it has been the bowl families turn to for comfort — and pista-badam has always been how the subcontinent says this one is special.
It begins where talbeena always has: whole barley, stone-milled and slow-roasted the traditional way, with semolina, sago and roasted chickpeas for a warm, comforting base — then the generous double hand of pistachios and almonds, joined by cashews, walnuts, peanuts and coconut, and a full spread of seeds: pumpkin, sesame, watermelon, melon, poppy, kalonji (nigella) and fennel.
Soothing gond katira, phulai and kikar gums and ispaghol (psyllium) — traditionally added for easy digestion — meet whole-milk powder and a touch of desi ghee for shahi creaminess, and a breath of cardamom and cinnamon. The result is our richest flavoured bowl: kheer-like, celebratory, and entirely real.
Made by Sunnah Grains in small batches — 31 whole-food ingredients and nothing else. Contains gluten (barley, wheat semolina), tree nuts (pistachios, almonds, cashews, walnuts, coconut), peanuts, sesame and milk (milk powder and desi ghee). Contains honey — not suitable for infants under 12 months. A natural food, not a medicine; not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
FAQ
Good questions, answered.
What is Pista Badaam Talbeena?
Pista Badaam Talbeena (also spelled Pista Badam; talbina) by Sunnah Grains is a traditional warm barley porridge built around the royal pair — extra pistachios and almonds with real milk powder — 31 whole-food ingredients, naturally sweetened with dates, figs, raisins, raw honey and a little gur. It tastes like a shahi kheer: creamy, nutty, celebratory.
Why pista and badam together?
Pista-badam is the subcontinent’s royal pair — the garnish of every celebratory kheer, sheer khurma and halwa. Pista Badaam Talbeena folds an extra 50 g of each into every kilo, over the same whole-barley Sunnah base.
What is the hadith about talbeena?
In a hadith narrated by Aisha (RA), the Prophet ﷺ described talbeena as a dish that soothes the heart of the sick and eases some of his sorrow (Sahih al-Bukhari 5417; Sahih Muslim 2216). Sunnah Grains makes talbeena in honour of this tradition — as a wholesome food, not a medicine.
Is Pista Badaam Talbeena a source of vitamins and protein?
Yes. Per 100 g it provides riboflavin B2 (27% DV, from real milk powder), vitamin E (16% DV, from badam) and 14.2 g of protein — the highest of our flavoured blends — alongside iron, magnesium and zinc (calculated from the recipe).
Does Pista Badaam Talbeena contain refined sugar?
No refined white sugar. Pista Badaam Talbeena is naturally sweetened with dates, figs, raisins, raw honey and a little traditional gur (jaggery).
How do I prepare Pista Badaam Talbeena?
To prepare Pista Badaam Talbeena, add 3–4 tablespoons to a cup of hot milk, stir thoroughly until smooth and creamy, and enjoy warm — morning or evening.
Does Pista Badaam Talbeena contain allergens?
Yes. Pista Badaam Talbeena contains gluten (barley and wheat semolina), tree nuts (pistachios, almonds, cashews, walnuts, coconut), peanuts, sesame and milk (milk powder and desi ghee), so it is not suitable for anyone with those allergies or with coeliac disease.
Is Pista Badaam Talbeena halal?
Yes. Every ingredient is halal and rooted in the Sunnah.
How is Pista Badaam Talbeena different from your other talbeenas?
Pista Badaam Talbeena doubles the royal pair and adds real milk powder for the creamiest, most celebratory bowl. Pistachio Talbeena leads with pista alone, Almond Talbeena with badam alone, Dates Talbeena is sweetened by khajoor itself, Power Talbeena is our heartiest blend for active men, and Sugar Free Talbeena leaves out all sweeteners.
How many ingredients are in Pista Badaam Talbeena?
31 whole-food ingredients, including barley, extra pistachios and almonds, real milk, three more nuts, seven seeds, dates, figs, raw honey and gentle spices.
