The full story

Anjeer — unwrapped.

Few fruits carry the honour of the fig — sworn by in the Qur’an (Surah at-Tin) and treasured across the lands of the Sunnah. Anjeer Talbeena brings that orchard fruit home: 31 whole-food ingredients built around whole dried figs, finished with threads of real saffron, and naturally sweetened with figs, dates, raisins, a touch of raw honey and a little gur.

Talbeena’s own story begins in the hadith: in a narration of Aisha (RA), the Prophet ﷺ described it as a dish that soothes the heart and eases some of its sorrow (Sahih al-Bukhari 5417 · Sahih Muslim 2216). For fourteen centuries it has been the bowl families turn to for comfort.

It begins where talbeena always has: whole barley, stone-milled and slow-roasted the traditional way, with semolina, sago and roasted chickpeas for a warm, comforting base — then almonds, pistachios, cashews, walnuts, peanuts and coconut for protein and good fats, and a full spread of seeds: pumpkin, sesame, watermelon, melon, poppy, kalonji (nigella) and fennel.

Soothing gond katira, phulai and kikar gums and ispaghol (psyllium) — traditionally added for easy digestion — meet a touch of desi ghee for richness, the fibre-rich sweetness of whole anjeer, and a breath of cardamom, cinnamon and saffron. No refined white sugar, no essences, nothing artificial.

Made by Sunnah Grains in small batches — 31 whole-food ingredients and nothing else. Contains gluten (barley, wheat semolina), tree nuts (almonds, pistachios, cashews, walnuts, coconut), peanuts, sesame and milk (from desi ghee). Contains honey — not suitable for infants under 12 months. A natural food, not a medicine; not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

FAQ

Good questions, answered.

What is Anjeer Talbeena?

Anjeer Talbeena (also called Fig Talbeena; also spelled talbina) by Sunnah Grains is a traditional warm barley porridge built around whole dried figs (anjeer) — 31 whole-food ingredients with real saffron, naturally sweetened with figs, dates, raisins, raw honey and a little gur (jaggery).

Why are figs (anjeer) special?

Figs are among the most honoured fruits in the Muslim tradition — the Qur’an swears by the fig in Surah at-Tin (95:1) — and anjeer (Ficus carica) has been treasured for centuries as a naturally sweet orchard fruit, rich in dietary fibre and providing minerals such as calcium, potassium and iron.

What is the hadith about talbeena?

In a hadith narrated by Aisha (RA), the Prophet ﷺ described talbeena as a dish that soothes the heart of the sick and eases some of his sorrow (Sahih al-Bukhari 5417; Sahih Muslim 2216). Sunnah Grains makes talbeena in honour of this tradition — as a wholesome food, not a medicine.

What does Anjeer Talbeena taste like?

Anjeer Talbeena is creamy and naturally sweet, with the soft, jammy taste of whole figs, warm cardamom and cinnamon, and the gentle aroma of saffron.

Does Anjeer Talbeena contain refined sugar?

No refined white sugar. Anjeer Talbeena is naturally sweetened with figs, dates, raisins, raw honey and a little traditional gur (jaggery).

How do I prepare Anjeer Talbeena?

To prepare Anjeer Talbeena, add 3–4 tablespoons to a cup of hot milk, stir thoroughly until smooth and creamy, and enjoy warm — morning or evening.

Does Anjeer Talbeena contain allergens?

Yes. Anjeer Talbeena contains gluten (barley and wheat semolina), tree nuts (almonds, pistachios, cashews, walnuts, coconut), peanuts, sesame and milk (from desi ghee), so it is not suitable for anyone with those allergies or with coeliac disease.

Is Anjeer Talbeena halal?

Yes. Every ingredient is halal and rooted in the Sunnah.

How is Anjeer Talbeena different from your other talbeenas?

Anjeer Talbeena shares the same whole-barley, nut and seed base as our other blends, then builds it around whole dried figs and adds real saffron — 31 ingredients. Pistachio Talbeena leads with pista, Power Talbeena is our heartiest blend for active men, Active Women Talbeena is tailored for women’s nourishment, Cashew Talbeena is our most buttery, Dates Talbeena is sweetened by khajoor itself, Almond Talbeena leads with badam, and Sugar Free Talbeena leaves out all sweeteners.

How many ingredients are in Anjeer Talbeena?

31 whole-food ingredients, including barley, whole figs, saffron, five nuts, seven seeds, dates, raw honey, a touch of desi ghee and gentle spices.
